The short version: we collect only what’s needed to create and deliver your stories. No photos. No voice recording. No address, no phone number, no name of yours. Your child never types and never speaks to us — they only tap.
What we actually hold. Your email (for sign-in and receipts), your child's name and age — and here the choice is fully yours: give their real name, or only a story name / home nickname, or both (at least one). Stories always use the story name when you've given one, optional family first names you choose to add, the day notes you type, and the stories, audio and PDFs created from them — plus, only if you choose to give it, your area postcode (an area of thousands of homes, not an address), used solely to pick nearby place cards and removable any time. That is the complete list of profile and story information we ask you to provide. Like every secure online service, we also process limited technical, security and payment records needed to run Tonight — see “The technical bits” below.
No photos, no recordings — by design. Kidoory Tonight has no photo upload and no microphone. Nothing visual or audible about your family ever reaches us, so those materials cannot be exposed through Kidoory Tonight. The illustrations and narration in your storybook are AI-generated and stored with your story — they are not photos or recordings of your family. This is deliberate: children’s privacy is worth more than any feature.
Your day notes. What you type about the day is used only to write that night’s story — never for marketing, and never used to train AI models. We never sell your information or let anyone use it for advertising. To write and narrate the story, your day notes are sent to the AI partners who create it — OpenAI (the storyteller), Google (Gemini) (an automatic backup), and ElevenLabs or Google Cloud (the narration voice) — who process it only to make your story, under contract, and never to train their models. The same promise covers every name and detail in your stories.
Sign-in. Passwordless: email + a one-time code. We never ask for or store a password.
What we keep, and for how long. By default each story, its illustrations and audio are kept for 7 days, free; after your first story you can choose 30 days or 12 months (the Keepsake Year), and anything you download is yours to keep forever. You can delete sooner any time. Order records are kept as required by law. Refund feedback you write is kept privately so we can improve.
Your controls. Sign in any time to read, listen or download. Delete any single story from My Stories, or your whole account from settings — its audio is removed with it. You can also email hello@kidoory.com for help (actioned promptly, without question).
Security. One-time email codes, Cloudflare bot protection, encrypted storage, and payments handled by Stripe — we never see or store card numbers.
No ads, no tracking for sale. We don't sell data and don't run third-party advertising on Tonight.
Family names in stories. They appear only because you add them. Please include only people happy to be in your child's stories; remove anyone any time in the profile.
The technical bits. Like every secure online service, we also process limited technical records needed to run Tonight and keep it safe: your IP address and basic device/browser information, Cloudflare security logs, error and diagnostic logs, one-time sign-in code delivery (via Resend), Stripe payment identifiers, and your country/currency. We use three essential cookies only — sign-in session, theme, and language — with no tracking and no advertising. Some partners may process data outside the UK; where they do, it is protected by UK-approved safeguards.
Your rights & who runs Tonight. Tonight is operated by Solo Digital Ltd, registered in England & Wales (Company No. 17220868), 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London, WC2H 9JQ. You can ask us to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to how we use your information, or to receive a copy — email hello@kidoory.com. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk), though we hope you’ll come to us first. When you delete your account we remove your stories and profile right away; we keep only what the law requires, principally payment records for the period tax law sets, and rolling backups until they cycle out.
